A second suspect involved in an expanded aggravated theft case in Columbia County has been arraigned today in Columbia County Circuit Court. Deputies arrested Michael Siegelbaum, 52, Warren Wednesday afternoon following a search warrant served on Siegelbaum's property.

Close to $90,000 in stolen equipment was seized in two different raids in Rainier and Warren in the last two weeks. Tractors, chain saws, power tools and other construction equipment have been recovered under the authority of two search warrants obtained in this ongoing investigation.

Wednesday, deputies recovered a Caterpillar front-loader tractor, a utility trailer, and numerous types of power equipment from Siegelbaum's property located in the 33000 block of Slavens Road in Warren. This raid was the second in the month of May, following a search warrant on May 19 in Rainier that also recovered two tractors and other power tools and equipment and building supplies.

Following the first search warrant and arrest of Derek Kelley, 40, Rainier on May 19, investigators developed additional information regarding stolen equipment involving the Siegelbaum residence in Warren. Additional investigation provided the necessary information for the second search warrant.

In both the arrest of Kelley and Siegelbaum, the suspects were also charged with controlled substance violations. With Kelley, he has been indicted by the Grand Jury on additional charges stemming from previous investigations. Investigators continue to match stolen equipment with theft victims in both Columbia and Multnomah counties.

Siegelbaum is being held on a $15,000 security bond for the following charges: two counts of Aggravated Theft, First Degree; two counts of Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle; two counts of Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle; Theft, First Degree; and, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine.

Following the Grand Jury indictments, Kelley is being held on a security bond of $18,300 for the following charges: Three counts of Burglary, First Degree; two counts of Burglary Second Degree; one count of Aggravated Theft, First Degree; three counts of Criminal Trespass, First Degree; three counts of Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle; two counts of Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle; and additional theft and criminal mischief charges.
These cases remain under investigation, and more indictments are expected.
